Telehealth

ALL SESSIONS ARE CONDUCTED ONLINE VIA SECURE VIDEO

My practice is entirely online. Meeting via video is convenient and greatly simplifies things. There is no commute, no traffic to deal with, and no chance of catching COVID-19. You can attend therapy from your own comfy couch or backyard if you so desire.

I work with clients located anywhere in California. I am based in the Los Angeles area, and many of my clients live here. I have worked with people from every metropolitan area in the state, including: San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Sacramento, Palm Springs, Orange County, and more. As long as you are in California and online therapy is appropriate your needs*, we can work together.

Attending sessions online makes therapy more accessible for people for whom it is difficult to get to a physical office location. All you need is internet access and a safe, private location. Many of my clients are businesspeople, students, or motion picture industry folks who greatly appreciate the flexibility Telehealth provides.

Therapy via Telehealth video is easy and effective. The platform I use is fully secure and runs right in any of the most common browsers. An app is available for iOS and Android phones and tablets.

This is what a Telehealth session looks like if I use this background, which I often do. There are also times when I may use different backgrounds, including the interior of the Millennium Falcon (one of my favorites - I’m a geek).

Two Practices

My private practice is Matthew McLean Family Therapy, Inc., through which I see clients who choose not to use insurance. I am also a therapist at Change Within Reach, Inc., a group practice through which I work with individual adults who have either Cigna or Optum insurance (I do not do EAP work).

  • Many plans use the Optum provider network for mental health benefits. Please contact your insurance plan to find out if they cover Optum providers.

  • I see Individual adults in both practices.

  • Couples and families are seen via my private practice only (I do not currently have any openings for couples).

  • Clients are seen via Telehealth in both practices.

Please note that Change Within Reach, Inc. is not affiliated with Matthew McLean Family Therapy, Inc.

*Online therapy (“tele-mental health” or “Telehealth”) is not always an appropriate method of treatment for everyone. In cases where symptoms are severe or unmanageable, or behaviors are or have the potential to become harmful or destructive, in-person treatment may be more appropriate. In such cases, I refer to providers who see clients/patients in person.

It is easy to get started. Just give me a call or send me an email to see if we might be a good fit.
